PORT OF SIRACUSA


The port is located between the Ortigia Island and Punta Castelluccio and communicates with the Marmoreo Port through a channel crossed by a bridge; predominantly commercial, it can accommodate several vessels.

Access: the alignment (267°12') between two dromes equipped with lights defines a free route from shallow waters near Castello Maniace to the east and the shoal near Punta Castelluccio and Secca Galera to the west. For entry,coming from the North, you must keep wide from the coast to avoid the danger posed by the Scoglio dei Cani, therefore keeping about 1 mile from the coast with the prow on Capo Murro di Porco, pull alongside the green light to the west andstay in alignment.

Lighthouses and lanterns: 2910 (E 1876) - lighthouse with white flashes, 5 sec., range 17 M on Capo Murro di Porco (visible from 160° to 090°); 2886 (E 1866) - green flashing light, period 3 sec. range 9 M, on the southern tower of Castello Maniace (visible from 188° to 330°); 2888 (E 1867) - red flashing light, 3 sec., range 9 m, on Punta Castelluccio; 2894 (E 1868) - (front) isophase beacon with red light, period 2 sec., range 17 M in the Caderini dromo (visible from 224° to 274°); 2894.1 (E 1868.1) - (rear) flashing white light, 5 sec. period, range 17 M in the Coachbuilder drome, which together with n.2894 defines the entrance alignment of 267°12' in the large port (visible from 261° to 272°); 2908 (E 1870) - steady green light, range 3 m to starboard entering the dock; 2908.2 (E 1870.2) - steady red light, range 3 m to the left when entering the dock.

Nearest safe anchorages: anchorage of Porto Grande
Areas reserved for pleasure craftVessels can moor on a 100 m stretch of the Foro Italico quay (6 m depth) and on a 150 m stretch of the Mazzini quay (4.50 m depth), both managed by the Port Authority.
